I love Friars Bay but the road in has always been a challenge to avoid breaking an axle on the rental car. Does anyone have an update on the condition of the road?

The road to Friar's Bay is bad right at the beginning but seems a tad better the rest of the way (with some precise car moves). The entrance to FB parking lot is horrible though

I still don't understand why the local property owners (especially the restaurants) don't get together and repair this. There are no paved surfaces to contend with, so a few hours of bulldozer time, and a compacting roller if there are any on the island, would make a world of difference, and probably increase business for the restaurants.

We take the road just past the Christmas house (coming from Simpson Bay) and park behind 978. The road was pretty bad in December, but a day at FBBC is worth it to us.

Drive slowly to avoid the potholes, and the axle on your rental car will be fine. Anyone who breaks an axle on that road is driving way too fast, not paying attention, or a lousy driver.

The road is smooth enough, and wide enough, to find a place to drive your car, as long as you don't insist on having two lanes simultaneously the whole way. At the narrow spots, just take turns with oncoming traffic.

We agree. We were there several days ago and thought the same.
