🚨 Important Update on the Dutch Government’s Proposed Aviation Tax 🚨
The Dutch Government is considering increasing the aviation tax to raise €248 million by 2027, with a focus on long-haul flights due to their higher emissions. This proposal could lead to significant ticket price increases, potentially up to €100 more for flights to and from the Dutch Caribbean. ✈️
At Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE), we recognize the importance of sustainable aviation and efforts to mitigate environmental impact. However, we also emphasize that air travel is essential for the Dutch Caribbean, connecting our region to the world for tourism, business, and family reunions. A balanced approach is crucial to ensure accessibility and economic stability.
The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) is actively engaging with stakeholders to ensure that the specific needs of our region are considered.
🗣️ Make Your Voice Heard! The Dutch Government is seeking public input on this proposal, and your feedback is invaluable. The deadline for submissions is February 25, 2025.
