The Atlanta airport is closed. Likely tell at least 3pm. Make other plans for any flight transiting ATL through about noon tomorrow if you can.

Looks really funny, to basically not see anything moving there. Is it ice, as it doesn't appear to be snowing currently.

We’re getting freezing rain now especially South Atlanta where Hartsfield is. Contrary to prior posts Hartsfield is not “closed down”. There is a ground stop until at least 2pm. The airport is open.

Rick--asking a stupid question, I guess, but what is the difference between a ground stop and being closed down?

Ground stop means planes are not landing/taking off. Closed down means the terminal is not allowing travelers in.

If you are a pilot in the air and you can’t land it’s closed! Lol
Technically you are correct.

On Friday Delta had a 757 abort takeoff due to engine fire, and passengers subsequently evacuated on the runway; shutting down two runways.

Snow and ATL is never good.
