Hi! Arriving from JFK to SJU after easter (award ticket) and are considering a reasonable/valuable priced and convenient way to get to Virgin Gorda. Is it really worth about $2000 for a direct r/t flight with Cape Air? Even if we have at least 3 to 4 hours in between I don’t want to lose that much money for a missed connection if delays occur. Or should we look for options via EIS? I guess Island Birds will be more expensive when only two people. I should mention that we first fly from Sweden to the US so it’s a pretty long and exhausting trip anyway. Arr 12:22 in SJU. Dep on the way back is 6:30 pm. Thanks for input to help us decide.

I would not spend that. You did not include dates but a random April search shows 178 to 435 roundtrip from SJU to EIS. I would ferry over from there. One thing I would consider is spending the night in SJU and leave for the BVI early the next day. The early flights are often much cheaper since the depart before connecting flights can arrive from the US. The savings will often cover the hotel and breaking up the trip will leave you much more rested on arrival in Virgin Gorda.

Have you looked at Tradewind Aviation? I did a random search in April and they offer SJU-VG for $142-$400.00pp. In addition to great fares, they offer top notch equipment and service.

Thanks, did not know about them so I looked them up. Unfortunately there were no flights on our dates (April 22 and May 4) either to VIJ or EIS.

Thanks for your reply. Our dates are April 22 and May 4. If I don’t remember wrong, you are in the airline business as well (me too). Which airline would you recommend to EIS? Read so many negative comments before, so unsure if that still is valid or if things have stabilized now. Might consider overnight in SJU, but rather avoid that since we have an overnight in New York as well. Our accommodation reservation in VG also starts April 22.

George is now a carefree retiree! Our neighbors who charter frequently to San Juan fly from the smaller airport; it's cheaper than SJU.

Great for him, so am I 😊. So, what’s the name of the other airport? Do the they also have scheduled regular flights from there to Virgin Gorda?

Hi Maggy, I would recommend reaching out directly to Tradewinds. They have been awesome to work with over the years, both for private charters and commercial flights both to EIS and Virgin Gorda.

Tradewinds might be your best bet. I would still consider flying into EIS and ferry over. Since you are already overnighting in NYC the trip is already broken up so I would probably skip staying in SJU.

Hi Maggy, SAS won't run a flight to EIS for you?! Enjoy your trip!

Thanks! I will contact Tradewinds and also look into flying to Beef island. It’s just so tempting flying directly into VG.

Other airport is Isla Grande that Island Birds offers us at discount relative to SJU. At 2 Island Birds will be very expensive...you want to get close to 5 or 9. They are great

Haven't got the Christmas lights up yet, but it's on the list! Kitchen has been gutted, some new gutters being installed and two new teak louvered doors are up. I'm the general contractor, so plenty of balls to keep in the air.
