It sure appears to have been a tough week for sailboats on STJ. Looks like the rocks have taken two boats, but a blessing that there was only minimal physical injury and no loss of life.

Hats off to the STJ community who are helping the Hale family get resettled.

And a big Bravo Zulu to the USCG crews, Sea Tow, and all those who responded and assisted the Aurora!

Tis� the season to be thankful. Boats can be replaced, but never the crew.

I'm speculating rough weather from NW but the sails are flogging? must of had a major operating error........auto pilot on? so sorry <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sad.gif" alt="" />

I just don't understand why Mr.Hale moved? He had been anchored for over 6 months and felt comfortable with his distance from the moored boat. He should have "held his ground" as it were.

From reading the story, I think he felt threatened by the other person mentioned.

yes, I understand, but I assume he was there first for an extended period of time and as a Captain was confident with his set.

I feel terrible that these people lost their floating home. I am intrigued to hear what the other side of a story is. After 6 months what would cause a boat neighbor to begin "harrassing" them? If this boat was too close to a legal mooring or didn't have a mooring/anchor permit, then why not work with the DPNR to resolve it? Surely there's somebody left in that office that isn't a convict or suddenly retired...
