It sure appears to have been a tough week for sailboats on STJ. Looks like the rocks have taken two boats, but a blessing that there was only minimal physical injury and no loss of life. Tradewinds - Not all is lost Tradewinds - Aurora on Rocks 6 Rescued Hats off to the STJ community who are helping the Hale family get resettled. And a big Bravo Zulu to the USCG crews, Sea Tow, and all those who responded and assisted the Aurora! Tis’ the season to be thankful. Boats can be replaced, but never the crew.

I just don't understand why Mr.Hale moved? He had been anchored for over 6 months and felt comfortable with his distance from the moored boat. He should have "held his ground" as it were.

From reading the story, I think he felt threatened by the other person mentioned.

yes, I understand, but I assume he was there first for an extended period of time and as a Captain was confident with his set.

I feel terrible that these people lost their floating home. I am intrigued to hear what the other side of a story is. After 6 months what would cause a boat neighbor to begin "harrassing" them? If this boat was too close to a legal mooring or didn't have a mooring/anchor permit, then why not work with the DPNR to resolve it? Surely there's somebody left in that office that isn't a convict or suddenly retired...
