https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2...to-history-books-as-delta-grounds-fleet/Wow, these jets were the mainstay of the long haul fleet after retiring the Northwest 747s. The 777 is a 25 year old design but most of Deltas are like 10-15 years old. Airlines have always had either huge capital purchases or leases on aircraft and they often kept less efficient but fully paid for and depreciated birds like MD-88s because they could make money with them. Now, it looks like a permanent decision to go all new and efficient and chuck even half used jets in favor of the new ones. Scary.

Wow. It’s truly going to be a new world in commercial aviation. Only the strong will survive. Airlines will only get one chance to figure out a winning formula.

Low cost carriers will take over. If things don't improve, I believe American Airlines may be a goner with all their debt.

That's too bad. Like Scubaman, I love flying first class in a 777.

Yep, Delta’s game is eliminating “cash burn” and they’ve taken it from $100m/day to $50m/day so far with agoal of zero/day by year end.
Any of them could go under as they already have but Southwest but there time may come.

I have a feeling those 777’s will be bought and converted to freighters by one of the large cargo carriers.
