Diamond Resorts just told my friends who had reservations for Jan.& Feb. that all reservations at the Flamingo and Royal Palm have been cancelled until April. KenKathy <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

I think that is the right thing to do. Once the airport can accept commercial flights Diamond can get their crew in to asses the damages and come up with a plan to get the resort back in shape. With out having to combine entertaining tourist during repair they can concentrate on just repairs and get the resort back to fully operational.
Right now all they can do is major clean up of the grounds. They sustained a lot of destruction and it will take a lot of uninterrupted work to bring the resort back.

I finally heard from Diamond Resorts both in a phone call & email. Essentially they stated both SXM resorts are closed till April 30, 2018 altho that date may change. And I was told that fixed week owners would not lose their weeks & would be accommodated at other Diamond resorts. Problem is that I am unable to find availability - I tried at least 12 resorts - all in the US - over 3 states & nothing available for when I would want them. Even at a ski resort in October - no availability! I'm going to try to add a week onto my 2019 weeks - see if that works.
