My neighbour is a 737 WestJet pilot and he says the WestJet flight numbers honestly don’t mean too much. The way they organize them are 0-100 overseas, 100-999 is domestic, 1000-1999 is USA, 2000-2999 México and Caribbean and then 4000-4999 rescue flights, 8000-8999 charters, 9000-9999 are cargo.

Some times just with a slight change in times or weekly schedule the flight number could change. This winter, WestJet has increased their schedule to SXM to fly on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They may also have another Westjet flight going that same direction with a similar flight number around the same time. For ease of communication with ATC they could change it.

My flight this past October was 2652 and 2653. But my upcoming flight this month is 2276 and 2277.

I am only guessing that adding Monday and Friday to the 2024–2025 schedule had something to do with it.
