Ok, originally we were going to rent a car for the 2 days we're going to be on Anegada. My better half (and captain) says he'd rather not be responsible for driving (aka he'd rather just drink cocktails all afternoon). We need transportation to Loblolly and Cow Wreck. Is a taxi viable for 5 people? Cost? Is Wonky Dog and either Neptunes or Potters within walking distance of the dock? Thanks - Julie

Neptunes' is a long walk from the dock, but doable.

There are taxi's out front of the ARH all the time. I think its $6.00 per person each way. Neptunes, Potters and Wonky Dog all have their own docks. so easy to get to.

Colleen - totally forgot about the restaurants having docks. Perfect! So, if we take a taxi to Loblolly do we just call for a taxi when we're ready to go to Cow Wreck etc.?

Haven't used the Anegada Taxis's in a while, but if I remember right, when they drop you off they ask you what time they should come back. They will be out there waiting for you.

If you are going to dingy from the ARH side to the Neptune's side please remember there is a reef between them. It's well marked, but I've seen more than one dingy plow into it.

I don't have it here at work, but if I remember correctly, there is a coupon in the Drinking Man's Guide for a free shuttle to some of the beaches. I don't remember which ones.

Anegada Beach Club will generally provide free round trip shuttle to ABC from Potter's. The last couple of trips they've had a guy in a dinghy circling the mooring field greeting everyone as they arrive once they've finished grabbing their ball or anchoring to try and get people out to the ABC.

The taxi drivers on Anegada are very accommodating. If you go to Loblolly you can arrange a predetermined time to be picked up or just call the driver. Often the driver will just wait.

As long as you are aware that Anegada "taxis" are often benches in the back of a small pickup truck. Not exactly the safest.

After the last couple of rides with a taxi, we just rent a car for the day.
70mph on washboarded dirt roads in the back of a pickup truck, tailgating 6 inches away from the cars in front of us...i can do better.
The VAST majority of the drivers are not like this, but we spun the bottle and got this driver for our return from the ABC later at night, twice.
