Hi all. I am still pondering things to do off of cruise ship in November for Antigua. Many of the options involve boating to a reef and snorkeling, which would be fine, or beach day at Fort James Beach or Dickinson's Bay. Either one of those beaches better? The boating & snorkeling could be an issue in November due to swells. We were in STJ in Jan of last year and did private charter and water was too rough to snorkel The Indians. Don't want to get bounced around on a boat to get into water too rough for snorkeling (did that in Hawaii and no fun!) - so maybe beach day on either Fort James or Dickinson's?? thanks all!

Try Darkwood Beach on the West Coast. Great views of Montserrat. A nice little beach bar there as well. Much nicer than Dickenson Bay or Fort James.

How would we get there? Taxi from the port? And are there taxis available when we want to leave? I worry about getting back on time. We have read about the Adventure Antigua folks about their boat and snorkeling trips ... not sure if that is the way we want to go or not. Seems expensive but might be worth it. I just don't want to miss out on experiencing a fantastic beach as we may want to come back someday and rent a place. Do you know anything about those boat trips? One of them is a speed boat that takes you to a place where you snorkel with rays.

Yeah Adventure Antigua is a great round the island trip. They also pull into Stingray City where you can swim and feed the stingrays. It's a great way of seeing the island and the wonderful beaches, it's well worth the money, I have been on it many times.
As for Darkwood there are plenty of Taxis available at the port, just let the driver know you want picking up at the time you desire and they will return. It takes about 20 minutes to get there from the port.

Dickenson Beach can be rather rough at times. A trip to Shirley Heights is always something fun to do. Don't know if that is offered to you. They have a fantastic bar with steel drum music in the evenings, but not sure if you will be able to do evening trips off the ship.

Adventure Antigua is a great outfit and the circumnavigation tour is well worth the cost. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cool.gif" alt="" />
