We took our 12 and 6 year old with us to the resort. Our flight was great, non stop to Jamaica from Milwaukee. Our ride to the resort was from Talk of the Town. Also great. The resort is very pretty. Very well kept and clean. The staff, well, in a word CRABBY. I was snapped at many times when trying to get food or a drink in the big main dining room. In order to eat in one of the other restaurants you had to wait in line to make reservations. the line stated to fill with people at 8 am, and sign up was not until 10 am. Needless to say, I did not waste my time in line, and we ate in the big dining room everynight, which was fine. I saw few smiles, which is night and day from when we stayed at Couples. We finally found one waitress, Claudine, who was great. We sat in her section everynight, and tipped her well. OUr room was nice. The in room bar was empty upon arrival, and only filled one time. We asked to bottled Red Stripe, and because we did not tip the minibar guy BEFORE we got the Red Stripe, we never received it. The beach and pools were great. We snorkeled right off the beach and saw lots of sea life. The down side of the beach was so many offers of not just ganja, but extasy, what ever we wanted. I will NEVER take my kids back there, as it is a teens paradise for drugs.

There was only one beach bar. they could use two. The side walks were black, and by 11 am too hot to walk on without shoes. The layout of the resort is not the greatest. OUr room was about a two to three block walk to get food or a drink. I felt like I was constantly walking.

The highligt of our trip was the trip to Mayfield falls. Our driver, Barry, was so cool. He drives for Talk of the Town. If you go, ask for him. He took us to a lot of little towns on the way, and talked about life in Jamaica. When we arrived at the falls, Barry showed the kids certain plants that are not in the states. They and I loved it. The kids ate a banana right off of a tree. Our tour guide up the falls, "250" was his name, was FABULOUS. He carried our 6 year old the whole way. He dove from Cliffs and was just hilarious. We ate at the falls, fish and rice. It was wonderful.

we also went into Negril one day. The beach was very pretty,. and the kids had a good time in the waves. We ate at Ms. Sonja's. We had chicken and beef pattys which were great. We also got three pounds of coffee from Selinas. She roasts her own coffee. It is much better than the prebagged stuff you get at the resorts, and it is 16 dollars per pound!!

Overall we had a wonderful trip, but we wont go back to RIU.
