needed to pick up a few grocery items to finish out the week along with some root touch up for my wife!!!
headed over new bridge and quick right to carefour, while wife picked up items, I checked out some of the offerings
nice fresh fish section, fresh bright red tuna, mahi mahi filets as well as whole fish
also available was reasonably priced caviar and whole frozen lobes of foie gras about 50 % less than in US
I know many bring their own frozen meats to the island but carrefour has a great selection at good prices,
I saw a huge tomahawk chop imported from France which is easy to roast (once seasoned and seared) and would be great gourmet meal with plenty of leftovers for sandwiches
also saw some pretty thick ribeye's
No problem cooking one meal in and maybe inviting friends over for dinner next year (Dr. Phil or Carib Lee)

A quick stop over to Mary Boons to check out pool in the case we wanted to switch things up next year for a few days
the boon is nice and quaint but the pool is too small

deciding on a beach day, we made the short drive past Sunset beach bar and went to D's beach bar
we carried beach stuff through restaurant only to find the surf a tiny little bit choppy and not to my wife's liking
we explained to the waitress who was setting up and she was so understandable with a great smile
I'm sure she offers great service

last chance for a beach was Mullet, I parked the car while "mahogirl" checked out the beach
Gary the chair guy asked her if I was getting out of car and she said she was checking out the surf, his reply "like glass"
he wasn't lying, it was a perfect day, staying for almost the whole day
$10 for one chair only used to put our stuff and he left the umbrella, Mr. cheapy thought price was more then fair

While floating on our floats a nice size boat pulled in careful not to "disturb" any one in the water
we welcomed them and quickly struck up a conversation while the "captain" threw me a cold one, kind gesture
happens to be Sammy who drives the boats for Billy bones boat charter on his day off with his own boat to relax
although we declined he welcomed us to come aboard and also threw out beers to our other friends in the water from RI La Plage in the water
I inquired about Chris who used to work with Billy bones and he quickly got him on the phone for us to exchange hellos
Chris now has his own boat under Wavy navy going out of Simpson bay
Chris has that endless smile and made our past boat trips a ton of fun

while floating, we could smell the chicken and ribs from Rosie's (Da Waterhole is closed for vacation)
been a while since we ate at Rosie's and the food did not disappoint
we shared a chicken platter as well as a rib plater along with 2 cocktails, plenty of delicious food for $38
our waitress was pleasant who delivered our food

spent some more time in ocean after lunch with the last of the sunshine spent at RI La Plage pool to share pool chat with others
our new pool friends just purchased a new wedding ring to replace her lost one, we recommended our Maho jeweler Jewels & Beyond and they were very happy
the night before I secretly bought my wife a ring she had picked out a few days earlier to celebrate another anniversary
coming to SXM during your anniversary certainly makes the vacation more expensive
we have always been happy with our purchases from Jewels & beyond although we buy the bigger ticket items at DK gems in Phillipsburg

ready for a low key dinner, we drove over to Pizza Italy in Simpson bay, since being recommended to us a few years ago, it is always on our return list
they were doing a brisk business with one server and an assistant doing a nice job of taking care of the tables
Shariff the head guy always remembers us and always remembers my wife writes romance books
we started off with a pretty good sized antipasto platter which was centered around a ball of burrata
at $20 it was enough for 4
latter she shared a light calzone filled with salami, mozzarella and ricotta
the dough was very lite
we also shared a perfectly charred pizza which had two slices with each topping, black olives, artichokes, ham and mushrooms
we enjoy the pizza here as I know all have their favorites
although we haven't tried the pasta here since we enjoy at other restaurants, the pasta is made in house and entrees are less than $20
bottled water, 1 cocktail, 1 beer, antipasto, calzone, pizza and service included was $89
a nice night out without the usual humidity which has been missing this entire trip so far

plenty was left over for an eat in lunch

we paid the bill in cash as the credit card machine is done frequently and knocked down the complimentary limoncello
15% service is included but left some extra as we always have very good service and enjoy the food

on the way home we drove past Maho un to the Porto Cupecoy casino to continue our modest slot machine winnings
we have gone home ahead every night there while not winning at all at Casino Royal playing the same game

Glad you had a nice day at Mullet.

I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla, as we went to Pizza Italy in June, and I thought it was terrible. Different strokes.

Thanks for your reports.

Having gone to Mullet Bay for 33 years, I have seen it like glass and 6'+ waves. The two times I went a couple of weeks agon was just about as nice as I have ever seen it. While I don't know the captains or workers on the boats that come in there, I have many times been offered a beer or rum punch as well. A really nice gesture.

I am going to have to give Pizza Italy a try sometime.
