Hi we will be landing in STT on Mon, Apr 29 at 1:35 looks like we can make the 4:00 ferry from CA to RT. Would it be possible to then taxi over to WE to catch the 6:00 ferry to JVD or too short on time? Anyone done this and made it? would like to make reservations at Ivan's for 3 nights but hesitant and really don't want to shorten it to 2. I don't see any ferrys from Red Hook to WE anymore but on Fri, Sat, Sun, Please let me know if anything different. There is only 2 of us so private water taxi is probably out of budget, Thanks!

That is a tad tight - depends on the ferry passenger load and how long it takes to clear in RT. Could be 20 minutes could be an hour. 30 minute taxi to WE. Maybe water taxi from RT or WE? Should be less expensive and no $$ C&I processing.

Aquatic Rentals is running the Red Hook - West End ferry. Here is their schedule: I don't think this helps you . . .

ecm56: close but i get in too late to catch the 2:30 and the 5:00 probably wouldn't give enough times to clear customs, thanks though maybe one of these ferries will change their times 3:00 would be perfect . . . .
MIfdiver: what do you mean by water taxi from rt "Maybe water taxi from RT or WE? Should be less expensive and no $$ C&I processing."
thanks

Tangerine- you could arrange for a water taxi to take you to JVD after you take the ferry and clear in at Road Town or West End. Should not be as expensive as the normal runs from Red Hook to the BVI and since you will already have cleared in will not need to pay their $60 - $75 pp customs and immigration processing fee (for personalized service). Check with Island Time and Chill Out.

Depends on # of people on the ferry and how long they take to clear in. For reference we went back via water taxi on 1/10 (a Wednesday). We waited for two groups ahead of us and then cleared. Took about 20 minutes total. Just for three groups of people.
Taxi Red Hook to STT is 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. If cruise ships are in port and there is a lot of traffic it takes the higher end of that range. Last trip private taxi was $135 for 4 plus tip.

ahhh crap looks like best to do is just head over to STT the night before, that's a bummer more than likely and crossing fingers flight changes again for the better. There is a 7am ferry but way too early for us we are slow risers.

Air schedules will probably change several times between now and your trip. Heck, flights for our recent trip this past month changed right up to 2 days before departure. Ridiculous. Personally I would rather get up at dawn to stay on JVD water than spend a night in St. Thomas (yuck).
What is your return date? We are planning to go back 4/26-May 5 or 6 and would be doing a water taxi return from Road Town in the am. Dates not firmed up yet.

There are 4PM and 6PM departures from West End to JVD. The JVD ferry always run close to those times.
It can be tight to get through Immigration & Customs in West End to depart for Jost on the 4PM. If you are delayed clearing Customs due Import Duty payments which can be slow and are a party of two send one person over to the JVD ferry and advise the crew your circumstance and they will always hold for a few minutes
The crazy thing is that BVI Ports & BVI Customs won't allow disembarkation until all luggage is off loaded which means Immigration & Customs processing is delayed. This is a chronic frustration here's hoping that will change
On our current trip to Jost we made the 4PM easily after a mid day arrival in STT ex MIA on American which departed MIA at ~09:00, prompt taxi to Red Hook and 2:30 PM Aquatic Rentals ferry to West End was the successful plan.
Normally we arrive ex ATL which arrives later arriving in STT and its tighter to make the 2:30PM. In this case we take a private taxi to expedite the STT/Red Hook trip
Hope that helps

It's so very odd that the cashier for HM Customs never seems to be able to take my money - credit cards or cash. I've run into this repeatedly both at the airport (EIS) and the ferry terminal in Road Town. Not surprised that you may have encountered the same issue at West End.
