Local businessman and former politician,Vanterpool, has annouced he is buying Quito's Hotel; and bar and restaurant..not sure what the $$ is..yet.End of an era. This man is buying up lots of the BVI's..already bought Pusser's and The Rock Cafe on VG. Its the end of an era for me with Quito's gone..

I used to live in a small resort city where one entity bought many of the restaurants and businesses. In the end they just became mediocre.

OK, that's kind of a shame, for the BVI's anyway.

The first time my wife and I went to Tortola (land-based) was 1996. We were on Patouche II with Frenchie and Claudia skimming across the Sir Francis Drake Channel listening to Quito’s Paradise album the day before we left. We had to return to hear him live. The era ended for me when he retired from performing.

My kids first heard him play when they were pretty small and were enamored with him. We mistakingly didn't buy a CD at the time so I was able to contact him and was sent complimentary signed copies I put in their stockings that year. It's now become a tradition to listen to him about a month out from any BVI trip. My kids would always ask "Is it time for Quito yet?" It's bittersweet now though knowing we will never see him play again.

Does anyone know if Quito is still writing/recording? Looks like he was playing at his place over Thanksgiving?
