FWIW, at present you cannot fly directly from SJU to Anegada. Due to the normal BVI government "taking care of business ", there is no immigration officer on Anegada to process arrivals.

Was there ever really? You would think they can designate someone.

Was there ever really? You would think they can designate someone. Except for a period after the pandemic, we have always had international flights into Anegada. The current government is cratering on all sides.

One time there was actually an Immigration Officer in an office at the airport when we arrived!

In 2020, we got a flight via VI Airlink from St. Thomas to Anegada. We are planning to go back next February and based on this thread (and my inability to contact VI Airlink), it appears we will need to ferry over from St. Thomas to Roadtown then onto Anegada.

We did fly many times between the islands with VI Airlink. They have been unavailable for a few years. Is there any air transportation into Anegada from Beef Island or Virgin Gorda (ie Domestic BVI flights) available?

It just got even more bizarre. The Anegada airport is now closed because they have relocated our airport fire truck to Virgin Gorda.

Make that closed to all except the after-midnight drug deliveries (which are international flights).

Not bizarre at all! In the past Taddy Bay has been closed because their fire truck was sent to Beef. With two scheduled carriers to TB, they probably want to keep it open.
What's bizarre is that they can't keep fire trucks running. They just got a number of certified airport firefighters back from training in the UK. I guess it's good they are adhering to airport safety rules.
It's unfortunate that Anegada is reduced to four day/week ferry connections.

What is bizarre is that ASSI requires a fire truck for any airport to be open. I can see it for Part 121 (airline) flights, but not for small aircraft operations.
The airport fire truck here has not actually been used for anything (other then simulations) for as far back as I can remember.
I will wager that less than half of the airports in the US have a fire truck.

The US does not require fire trucks for on demand charter with less than 31 seats.

The Anegada airport is closed due to issues with the fire appliance. Once resolved, an update will follow accordingly. Safety is our #1 Priority, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Do they actually man the fire appliance? If not then it actually has no bearing on safety.
