Construction has started on the site in the middle of Mullet Bay, behind the fabric fence. Probably a new restaurant. The photo below was taken today, from the water.

A little depressing, for those of us who think Saint Maarten's beaches are getting overdeveloped.

Yes, it's true -- Mullet Bay was more developed before Hurricane Luis. That doesn't mean I won't shed a tear to see more development at one of my favorite beaches. Along with the ugly twin towers, this new restaurant will change Mullet Bay Beach.

There goes another favorite beach of ours. We would walk down far to get away from the crowd. Now, right where we usually sit, they’re building another restaurant. Luckily us. More crowds, smoke and probably loud music. Not to mention the towers going up. That’s another story.

Anyone that can't see a marked improvement to that entire area needs glasses.

You don’t need glasses to comprehend fix the infrastructure first then build, when the only road is barely one car wide on Sundays and holidays and the parking lot is a disaster, that is what needs to be addressed first before building on the beach.

It’s all privately owned, but looks like he’s handing out land leases or selling sections etc. not really sure what is the real deal. They put the boulders up along the road to keep people from parking on the golf course. Now they park on the road. It would be so darn simple to enlarge the parking lot. Plenty of unused land there. Really irritates me as I had to drive out New Year’s Eve day one year to get to the clinic. (Daughter had a bad reaction to a jellyfish) and we could barely get the car through from Cupecoy. And Now with the new Towers going up. 200 more cars in the area! Just no planning!!!!

How stupid. fix the road and parking before you try to bring in a even bigger zoo! It gets bust too but We still prefer Simpson Bay Beach by far.

Fixing the road costs money. A new restaurant makes money.

Especially if you don't own the road.
