I have not posted on the forum in quite some time, but made a recent trip worthy of sharing. I knew nothing of the Grand Turk 'shakedown' then or now...
After huge discussions, research, and debate, our daughter chose Grace Bay Club for her destination wedding. The five nights we spent there were absolutely delightful. Grace Bay beach is phenominal - a seriously beautiful beach - all seven miles of it! It's obvious why it is so highly rated by Conde Nast and others.
Flights were easy and everyone was able to get there in apx. 7 hours (most from east and southeast US). Airport transfers were also easy, ten minutes to the resort, $15.
Everything seemed a bit more expensive than other places we have visited. But the beauty, service and food at GBC was five star. The accomodations were lovely, very spacious and extremely comfortable. They provided a personal concierge, champagne, bottled water, fruit plate, bathrobes, flip flops, free phone to the US, awesome breakfast buffet each morning for each guest.
While we normally like to be 'off the beaten path' and any little thatch roof is fine, this was an unbelievable vacation. The people we encountered on Provo were awesome. One guest (staying at a nearby resort) left her purse in the cab from the airport but the (random) driver was located by phone within the hour and returned it promply (along with passports, credit cards, cash, jewelry, cell phone, etc.)!
The way most of the Provo resorts line Grace Bay seemed unique to us and I don't know that we would return but it IS a breathtakingly beautiful place. And we have memories for a lifetime!

We stayed at the Royal West Indies but had drinks at the Infinity bar at Grace Bay and then walked around. It looked beautiful but because of the higher price was not an option for us. We were happy with RWI over the other comparable hotels.
Congrats to your daughter. Would love to see photos.
