Day 2

Slept in and didn’t get out of bed until 6. The sun is trying to peek out from behind the morning clouds. Tiptoe quietly out of our room and upstairs to the coffee that was set up the night before. Poured a cup and listened to the island come alive as the roosters woke up the dogs. Early in the mornings, you can hear the waves rolling into Hart Bay also. Around 8:30, I begin to hear rustling noises in the house.

The alarm clock for our friend Michele this morning would be this fella

as he dropped in from the ceiling to her pillow in the upstairs master. Hello!!

He posed for this quick photograph before returning to the banana trees down below. A quick sun shower before the rest of crew wakes up produced a nice rainbow coming out of Chocolate Hole.

Breakfast of banana pancakes, bacon and cantelope during our daily planning session of where to go and what to bring. Daily routine of packing coolers, making sandwiches/wraps and readying the Jeep for the adventure.

We decided on Trunk Bay for the day. Of course a shot before we get there.

Perfect decision, no cruise ships in STT on this day, so not a large crowd at Trunk. I've got nothing against cruise ships, I just don't like large crowds.

We (mainly me) lug our supplies and chairs down the west end, staking out a spot with some partial shade under a palm. Nothing like a lazy day on Trunk.

We have never been here when it’s been this empty or calm. Very calm swim out to the trail with the kids.

also impressed by how much better Parker is now. I remember only a few years ago snorkeling the trail with her latched on to my arm and riding my back.

Made the short walk down to the snack hut for Jen's favorite drink. The ladies there make a mean Guava Punch. It's always a must on her visits. The birds seemed extra brazen around the shack hut this time with the french fries. Could be all the anti-bird line and netting at the snack hut is driving them mad.
First day out, folks are feeling the tired, so we get our gear packed and our DD drives us back to Blue Agave. Get back in time to hear the end of the USA/Japan Olympic final on the iPhone.

Little more time in the pool, then off to Cruz Bay to meet with Capt. Josh and go over our itinerary for tomorrow with Cruzin Away charters. We scheduled for early in the trip in case the seas or weather were bad, so we would have a chance to re-schedule. No need this year.

In past trips we have rented a bareback boats from Island Time on Tortola and Ocean Runner in Cruz Bay. Also did the Bad Kitty a couple years ago. Great fun, too many cold beers.

Ocean Runner no longer rents without a capt, so we found Cruzin Away. This is a 14th birthday present for our son, so we are letting him plan the day. We'll see how it goes. Can’t beat a day on the boat!

Stop in at the Tap Room for a Summer Ale and Root Beer while some shopping was taking place at Mongoose Junction. Rootbeer for the birthday boy!

Then off to Texas Coast for dinner. No one had stepped up to cook dinner, so we had grouper sandwiches and cheeseburgers for dinner while watching the Olympics on the big screens.

Last time we were on STJ, the park around Texas Coast was still under construction. I really like how it looks now.
