Anyone who has access to Facebook may be interested in the video updates from Sint Maarten being posted on the Facebook page of the American University of the Caribbean. A recent (November 21) video post by Tiffany Ciolek includes a stroll through the Maho area, from the pharmacy to Sunset Bar and Grill.

The video gives you a good idea of what's open and what's closed, and shows how little sand is left at Maho Beach.

Each time I view one of these videos, tears well up when I see the destruction and reminisce about the good times spent over the last 30+ years on SXM. Our units at SBR received extensive damage and will be evaluated in before the end of the year for repair or rebuild. Normally we visit in late Feb, but we hope to return later in 2018. We have been in contact with our long time local friends and though all received damage, they are safe and rebuilding.

The sand coming and going at Maho is a regular happening and usually several times a year. Not to minimize the destruction from the hurricane but the sand will return in due time and probably to the extent it will cover the road and then people will complain about that.

Thank you for the videos. It is good to see the progress and places back to doing business.

Agreed, the sand comes and goes. To me, it was good to see so many places up and running, or close to opening, according to her report.

Hi, Thank you for this video. I would like to ask who you spoke to at the Royal Islander La Plage. You stated that they said it would open in April. Reason being is that I contacted them and asked if they would be open then and they said no. My timeshare/flight is set for April 21st and I will need to know if I should change flights. Thank you again for such an informative video.

Yes, I had not heard that before, that they would reopen in April. Not saying it's wrong, but hadn't heard that before.

End of April was first mentioned right as a target date just a week or two after the storm passed. Once their insurance adjuster inspected the property, they changed and said Summer of 2018. They have the date in mind they want to reopen. They just are not in a position to make that date public yet. Would expect that to come by the end of December since that is normally when the bill for Dues comes out.
