e just arrived back home to Iowa after a wonderful two weeks in Jamaica. I have to say, it was heavenly. The weather was outstanding, we sunned everyday on the beaches, and really were able to unwind. We dicided to really SEE the island, and stayed at a total of four locations. Travel was an adventure, the roads arent super highways, however our cab drivers were delightful! I had to buy another suitcase just to lug home all the wonderful bargains I found. I had to question one store owner on why the price of jewelry was so low. Apparently the tourists arent traveling there like they used to, lucky for me, I bought a necklace and Diamond ring. I had it appraised once I got home and My jeweler stated i probably got it below the wholesale cost. One carat in white gold with six side stones for 3,200. I am one happy, happy girl! We did some scuba diving, what a wonderful experience. One on one with a dive instructor, made for a relaxing experience, like diving in a fantasy aquarium! I am definately going back, as soon as i can accumulate enough vacation time.
PS.... Jerk Chicken from the local Jerk Pits in Jamaica is Heaven!!

The two best places we stayed at were Negril Toga Center in Negril, only $40/night for both of us. It was a wonderful calm environment. Im really into Yoga so this was a treat. Double beds, clean rooms, wonderful food.
The other was High Hopes Estate in St Anns bay, the room was a bit pricey for my budget, $135.00, however the room was wnderful and the service top rate. Its a Bed And Breakfast, the food was yummy and very Jamaican. We teamed up with a few other guests, rented a driver for the day and explored the area. The people were so sweet and genuine once you got away from the touristy areas. One place I would love to check out in Negril would be Alfreds Palace, its on the ocean and looked like a lot of fun. We stopped in to enjoy the music, live of course. I now have an admiration for reggae. The band members were true artists, however the interacted with the audience and seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the listeners. A wonderful memory.....Its like the entire island just pulsates with music..
