My Mom got an old CrockPot recipe book from the late 60's at the OutReach Program where she volunteers... I was looking thru it yesterday and it has some really great stuff... recipes you don't see anymore... I'll have to see if I can put some in word and then post here... In the meantime, this Recipes Forum has quite a few good crockpot ones... Just look for "slowcooker" in the titles...

i had one for a few years sitting in the box. now that i've started using it, i am officially a slowcooker junkie. it is pretty simple and best of all so convenient. i'm linking a slowcooker thread i started, which includes a few pics as well as the recipes. any specific type of recipes you are interested in? i'll probably be using my slowcooker at some point this weekend and will post recipe(s) if i do. have fun with your new appliance! http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/s...e=3#Post1074843

When my son went into his first apartment I bought him a crockpot. When his sons moved into their apartments @ college I gave them one too. I also gave them some recipes. They love their crockpots! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> I'll rev up some recipes for you, too!

Oh, yes! I taught him at an early age to bake bread! He was a 'hyperactive' child so I'd have him knead the dough. When the bread was baked he loved it. I told him it was because of the way he kneaded the dough. Voila! A cook! He cooks all the time, now that he's a single dad. My grandsons live with him and it's crockpot heaven when they're home from school! Although, he makes a mean sauce for pasta, too! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

My interest in cooking really started when I was at Villanova... (although I had cooked at a number of places on LI before then, but I really wasn't into it that much)... I lived in a house with seven other frat brothers, and we'd each take a night and cook for all... My first specialty was a loaded Pizza Steak... much like a Phila. Cheese Steak, but with steak-ums, marinara & mozzarela, and onions, black olives, peppers & mushrooms... and that's all anyone wanted when it was my turn to cook... I learned it from working at Pizza Palace in Bryn Mawr...

Basically, get some hoagie (or sub, or grinder) rolls and split lengtwise... leaving a little so it is still one... Saute onions, olives, peppers (hot & mild, or all mild, or whatever you want) and mushrooms and some oregano... til just cooked... Cook steak-ums (about 2 servings per, which would be 4 steak-ums), and chop them as you cook... Preparation... toast hoagie rolls on open side only, til just browned... spread a thin layer of sauce on each side... put down the cooked steak-ums... top with the saute'd mixture... top with a little more sauce... then a bunch of shreaded mozzarella... Place under the broiler til cheese melts... YUMMM....

I love soups & stews and what better way to make them than in the crockpot? Dump everything in before leaving the house in the morning and return home to a wonderful dinner!! If leaving more than 4 hours I'd recommend cooking on low.
Spicy Chicken Stew
Ingredients 2 potatoes (about 1 1/2 lb.), peeled and cut into chunks (3 1/3 cups) 1 (10 oz.) package frozen sweet corn 2 stalks celery, chopped 2 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks (1 cup) 1 onion, thickly sliced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 (12.5 oz.) jar salsa 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon chile powder 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 skinless, boneless chicken breast, halved (about 1 lb.) 4 skinless, boneless chicken thighs (about 10.5 oz.) 2 1/2 cups chicken broth Preparation Place potatoes, corn, celery, carrots, onion and garlic in slow cooker. Stir in salsa, salt, cumin, chile powder and pepper. Distribute chicken evenly on top of vegetables and pour chicken broth over chicken. Cover slow cooker and cook stew on high for 4 hours.
Transfer chicken to a plate and shred with two forks into bite-size chunks; return to slow cooker. Serve warm topped with tortilla chips & dollop of sour cream. Warm & yummy! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

I like that... good combination of spices and chicken! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />
BTW... I sometimes will substitute a jar of Bruschetta toppings for salsa in recipes... a bit thicker, and a whole variety of flavors available... from a basic tomato based one to artichoke, anchovy (<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sick.gif" alt="" /> IMO) and olive based Bruchettas...

http://www.recipesource.com/This is one of my favorite recipe sites. They make it easy to find what you want, whether it be ethnic, chicken or crockpot, they have the database cross referenced really well. Enjoy

Here's an easy way to make a roast.... 1. Cut up vegetables like carrots, celery, onions and potatoes and put in bottom of crock pot.. 2. Place roast (arm, rump, etc) on top of vegetables. 3. Sprinkle a pkg of onion soup mix on top of meat and veg's. 4. Add a family size can of cream of mushroom and just enough water or milk to cover the bottom of crock pot. Cook for 6-8 hours. By time I get home from work, it is done, and very yummy! You can also leave out the potatoes, and make a batch of mashed potatoes instead and the gravy from the roast is delicious over the mashed potatoes. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />
