Yesterday was a pretty lazy day overall. We truly miss the Gourmet Marche in Simpson Bay. We used to go there all the time. There is still nothing in the front of that building. We needed just a couple of items, so we went to the Gourmet Marche in Cupecoy, but were very disappointed. They no longer carry the specials from the main store and the store itself just seemed kind of run down. So, we headed back over the hill to the big Grand Marche and got some vinaigrette for our steak salad for lunch--sorry, no picture--and some more mini prosecco bottles for mimosa and a couple of other things. I have searched, without success, for mini champagne bottles and have now given up! They had some expensive mini bottles at Super U, but you don't need the good stuff for mimosa! Anyway, steak salad for lunch left us room for a nice meal at Bistrot Cariabes for dinner!! We had Wilfred Brooks pick us up at Beachside for the trip. For the evening, with only two of us, we got the upgraded SEDAN, which is much more comfortable for two than the van. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> We started out with a shared lobster bisque. Eric had a seafood medley I had the succulent rack of lamb and we finished with coffee and the decadent chocolate cake, followed by their signature spiced rum. Life is good!

Looks like a very nice evening! Eric looks happy about his food and your lamb looks delicious if you are a lamb lover.

Carol - I'm not a newbie to TTOL, but I don't remember you doing on-island trip reports. Maybe I simply missed them, or better yet, maybe I don't remember, but your reports are very enjoyable to read / with pictures.
Eric sure is a good sport with the picture thing.

We think Bistrot C is consistently the best service and food wise for us. They are creative pro's. dine:

Thibault and Amaury still own it, yes. Amaury was there that night, although we missed Thibault. Amaury said this time of year, they often switch off per night now. They were very busy the night we were there. We didn't walk the street, since Wilfred picked us up and dropped us off out front, so no idea how busy the other restaurants were. Ocean 82 across the street did seem to have a fair number of people going in there though.

By coincidence there is currently a tv series running ( done about 2 years ago) called "Inside Paradise" and it is about various business and their owners and how they have to hustle to make enough money in 4 months to carry them and their businesses through the year. Not much footage of SXM but a lot of insight into local businesses and the owners.

Wilfred sounds like the way to go when going from BSV to Grand Case. We have his number although never used him. Will hopefully check him out as well as Ocean 82 next trip as we've never been.

It doesn't make for a cheap evening, but it is a very nice experience.

Nice job Carol,
Methinks BEERMAN has upped everybody's trip report efforts. And we all thank him for it!

Curious...know you are from Florida as am I. What were your travel arrangements? FLL to SXM on Spirit? or AA out of MIA? Or? We are looking to return this fall but now JB is no longer flying from SJU to SXM. Was so convenient last year as we live in Naples Area. Safe travels home. Thanks Great Pics and great travelogue.

We usually do AA from Miami. We drive 3 1/2 hours one way for the non stop, but feel it's worth it...
Thanks for the kind words.
