Questions for those on island now: 1) what is the current seaweed status near Mt Vernon 2) What is the current sand status at Club O?
be there in two weeks and want to calibrate expectations <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Just returned from a venture to Orient.
Seaweed in the middle of Orient and Club O area, none!
Sand from Pedros toward Mt. Vernon wide. Sand from Pedros toward the Watersports, got narrow the closer to Watersports. Looked like from the Big sign to the perch was one row, then went to two rows.
Between the sign and Pedros was wide. Could not walk on sand in front of Pedros. They have put in two new stairs on each side. Pictures, etc. to come.

Hah, I'll answer my own question:
1) the beach in front of my Vernon is very wide and very clean except for thin strip of seaweed. Yesterday about a dozen men were raking that strip in front of me into wheel barrow size piles that they moved down the. Beach always. appears unmanaged the rest of the way to orient village.
2) Pedro's is having a sand bonanza. Very wide and very nice to see. It appears since December that they put a jetty of rocks perpendicular to the beach which is catching the sand. There was sand over those rocks we could walk over and a yard or so of sand to walk in front of Pedro's rocks. We couldn't do that at New Years. Rest of club o looked the same except a few more sea wall boulders heading north from papas that weren't there in December.

A crew of 11 men raked in front of mount Vernon again this morning and hauled it somewhere down the beach.

Regarding the sand status - I check the webcam nearly every day, and it appears that the area just north of the Perch Bar has regained some of its width. Of course, I'd much rather be able to give a live update.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

South of the perch there is only one row for about 200 ft. It then widens a little for two row then three up to about 100 ft from Papas. We are here now and the south end is not as good as the past. They say the sand comes and goes, but in our eight years here we have only seen it go.
