Flying Delta Pittsburgh to Stt via Atlanta. Now only have 50 mins to change planes in Atlanta to arrive in St. Thomas at 12:45. If I don't make the connection there's another that get's in STT at 2:45pm. This will be on a Sunday at end of August. Hoping to make the last 4:15 ferry to RT. Given that this is a Sun during slow time of year, any other worries? If all goes wrong can I call a water taxi last minute if I miss the ferry? Wouldn't stress so much but I've already paid something like $600 for the sleep aboard at Moorings! 4 of us and we will have a couple of checked bags.

If you miss you connection and get on the second plane arriving at 2:45 pm you should be fine to catch the 4:15 out of Charlotte Amalie.

If not, you could call Dolphin, they advertise shuttle service to Tortola up until 8 pm daily. You could also check with Foxy's Charters.

I regularly arrive at 3:30 and make that ferry. If the flight is late they will hold the ferry. The PIt to ATL flights on Delta are all mainline with a very high on time rate and reliability.

Thanks! My brother is a captain with United's regional airline and has been telling me it's going to get pretty bad this summer with the regionals. I'm definitely more comfortable with the mainline flights. I was worried that Atlanta is so big and might not make it across the airport if gates are far apart. There is an earlier flight from Pit but it goes to JFK. According to my brother at least, I should avoid that at all cost.

JFK is a very good airport for flights before 2pm. After that it gets swamped. The regionals are going to have a tough time staffing their flights this summer. It appears they would rather cancel flights then raise pay.

You have no problem if flight is close to on time. Though not as worrisome as Miami..Thunderstorms in August are not unheard of,, George C can give you the dot And tittle of how close lightening has to be to shut down airport .. But happens a lot on summer Pm flights especially via Miami. usually going to STT in summer we opt for a Chicago connection..in winter Miami given similar pricing.

I was stressing out about my arrival time a couple of weeks ago. Just call Kevin! He knows what ferries are running, what times. When we arrived at 3:50 we were able to get our bags and to the ferry by 4:30. Unfortunately, we missed the 4:30 but there was another 5:30 ferry that was not posted. The other option was a ferry leaving from red hook to west end.

Just call Kevin!
