Good to know as my youngest is at UT Austin (Hook'em) and currently getting her to the BVI is a major hassle. Thinking about your next trip Stormy? ... S/V Orion would love to have you back <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
Thanks Stormy! - Mark

Maybe American could fly from Dallas to st Thomas as a competing route. We west coasters need it!

I suspect UAL will use a small 737 on the route. Even doing that they are pushing the range limits to get out of STT and make it home. Probably will end up making a flag stop for fuel if the runway is wet in STT. Dallas is 120 miles further and would be tough to fly reliably. G

Just looked up some random dates out of curiosity IAH to STT. Every single option has a stop at SJU.

Fuel stops are really expensive. I suspect as I mentioned they will use a short 737 on the route and go nonstop. If fuel stops end up happening to often they will drop the route. It's about 1800 miles compared to STT to JFK around 1400 miles. The term direct does not however mean nonstop so who knows for sure. G
