COMING FROM CENTRAL NJ. FLYING OUT OF JFK TO SXM ON MAY 7. HAVE NOT FLOWN OUT OF THERE BEFORE. IS THE ON AIRPORT LONG TERM PARKING SAFE? DO THE SHUTTLES RUN FREQUENTLY? WOULD I BE BETTER OFF PARKING IN THE OFF AIRPORT LONG TERM LOTS LIKE SPOT ON? I HAVE CHECKED ON LINE AND REVIEWS OF EACH ARE MIXED BUT COST OF OF OFF SITE IS LOWER. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

Yes - please stop shouting. To answer your question, Long Term Parking at JFK is 18.00 a day. You follow signs for "LTP", park your car and take the "AirTrain" to your terminal. Think Disney Monorail. Google JFK, Long Term Parking - AirTrain - all the answers. We used to park off site, but found the buses to be a pain, probably cheaper, but we like to be able to walk off the plane and walk to the AirTrain to our car. You can pay, cash, credit card or with your "EasyPass".

Have used the LTP in the past and only once have problem with the AirTran was out of commission after Sandy winds knocked it off the track. They supplemented it with buses. They have prerecorded messages that tell you when the next Tran is arriving and what stops it makes. You have to make sure you get on the correct tram since some don't stop at all terminals and also go off site. It is not staffed with any conductors but usually there are some AirTran staffers on the platforms, depending on the time of day, that can help make sure you are taking the correct Tran. Also you can ask fellow riders on the platform that can help as well and there always seem to be a lot JFK employees that use the Tran. Make sure you add some time into your schedule for taking the Tram as well, since your not getting dropped off directly at the terminal.

We only use the long term parking associated with the airport. I do not trust the off site guys. The bus is frequent and they have patrols in the lot. You can reserve a spot for $5:

Curious - bus? I have never had to take a bus. Always get on the airtrain at the station. Also have never needed to reserve a spot. Hundreds of open spots. Have probably used it 20+ times.

There are buses that cruise the long term lot that will bring you to the airtrain terminal which could be handy if you have a lot of luggage. You cant get on the wrong train at long term, they all go to the various airlines however returning to your car you need to be on the "Howard Beach" train as opposed to the "Jamaica" train.

Ok - we always park at Howard Beach, within walking distance to the terminal and never took a bus, so was confused. Thanks
