Good morning all,
We may anchor in Savanah / Pond Bay one night. Is there a way to get to shore and get a taxi from here to Coco Maya for dinner? We plan to stay in the North Sound one or two nights, but we will be closer when we anchor in Pond Bay.

There is nothing at Savannah/Pond Bay but a trash can. No pier, business's or homes. You would have to leave your dinghy unattended on an empty beach and walk 1/3 to 1/2 a mile up a dirt road to the main road and then wait to flag down a cab, if one comes by. Also, there is a lot of shallow water reef and it could be dangerous navigating back out in the dark. If you accidently got over reef in shallow water you will not only damage the reef, but also your outboard motor. I would go into Yacht Harbor/Spanishtown and hire a cab, or go on to Leverick and rent a car. It is all of eight miles from Leverick to Coco Maya. Plus, if the weather picks up you can drag anchor at Savannah and end up on the beach. I have some great picts of a throughly destroyed catamaran at Pond Bay. Plus, it is kind of fun/interesting driving VG. We are nine days away from our BVI trip, but hey, I'm not counting...

I would second Charlie's comments - conceivably you could phone a taxi company to meet you at the Savannah bay parking area/trail but the dangers to the reef and your boat outweigh that option. Just take a dock slip at Yacht Harbour - enjoy the meals and entertainment and have a relaxing time.

or get a mooring ball outside VGYH as long as the conditions are not too rolly for you.

That's too bad, we used them last February. A nice young guy collected the mooring fees
