Haven't been to Anegada for a few years. With a 6'3" draft will I be limited to anchoring?

You will be ok on the Northern balls. You won't make it on the Southern balls at low tide. The anchoring there is as good as it gets anywhere. The bottom is a sandy muck that grabs a anchor like glue. G

We are 6'5" and get through the channel ok, so far; we hug the south side. We anchor out as even the mooring balls that we can use are very tight and any swell will have you doing the pogo. Its 12' outside the channel to the east towards setting point. Yep, good anchor set.
We were talking to Desne at Wonky Dog about the silting in the anchorage. She said that there is definitely a lot of sand coming into the harbor and it is getting visibly shallower. We certainly see that. I won't take our boat into mooring field until that changes. Nice view to the sunset upwind from a lot of holding tanks where we anchor.

I don't mind anchoring. But I am a bit concerned about getting there and finding there isn't any anchoring room remaining. Will be there 5/2 - 5/9.

You never know about how crowded it will be. We try the Friday trick (when charters should not be there) but that doesn't seem to work lately. So you just have to take your chances with any anchoring possibility.

There's a good bit of room to anchor at Setting Point. There is a lot of room to anchor outside of the channel. Backup is Pomato Point, about a 1.5 mile dinghy ride.

I am confused... closer to shore in that anchorage is North (correct?) So they would want to stay on the southern balls right?

BVI Cruising Guiide - AnegadaAs you can see, the shoal from Pamato Point wraps around the Anegada anchorage to the south. The mooring balls to the left as you enter the anchorage, near the shoal are very shallow.

They want to be on the Northern balls closer to shore. It's deeper there. You don't want to early turn toward the balls either. G

I'm at 6,1 and when I turn to port at last green, I go straight until the first line of balls is to port, then I turn to port at that time. I tend to ignore all the balls on the outside perimeter and leave them to cats.
