I get into SJU at 0145 and take off at 0630.....to me it doesn't make sense to rent a hotel room in the airport for that short amount of time...both flights are out of Terminal A.....anyone "been there - done that?"....I am thinking I'll just sack out in a chair in the terminal but don't want to assume I won't be harassed by any "Barney Fife" type security guys or anyone else for that matter. Thoughts anyone? By the way....for those that haven't seen me on the board in a LONG LONG TIME.....I moved to FLorida and have a new job that keeps me busy enough that I never have time to get on here....no longer in a soft corporate position where I could stare at webcams and talk to everyone all day! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Bring a jacket. They like it cold. Not many food options either.

1:45am? I have done that and have got a hotel, even for a few hours sleep. I've also not got a hotel and sat it out.. getting the hotel was definitely better.

Ugh the timing on your itinerary sucks. Lines at STU can be a real PITA. You want to be at the airport 2 hours ahead minimum. So that means, assuming flight is on time, you are out of the airport at 2:15, 2:30 if you have luggage. Then you have to be back no later than 4:30. Not enough time for a hotel.

Stoney, you won't be harassed by anyone.
A few years back, I had a nightmarish string of events coming back from visiting in New Brunswick that ended up with me stuck in Puerto Rico overnight after arriving on the very last flight into Puerto Rico from New York. (Fogged in for 2 days in NB ... long story)
I was dead broke due to circumstances beyond my control (my wallet was pick pocketed from my purse at JFK airport) ... so I had no cash and I don't own a credit card and my cheque book was in my wallet. Thankfully, I always have my passport, birth certificate and plane tickets in a separate wallet that hangs around my neck so that I am not always digging in my purse.
I had no money for a hotel and the airline insisted that my plight of being stranded was because of the "other" airline (American) and not them (Delta), so they wouldn't put me up for the night.
I sacked out on one of the benches outside, right beside a well-lit telephone booth. I was so exhausted, I slept well and although pretty stiff the next morning, managed to finally get back to Tortola, none the worse for wear.
I found it comforting that there are security guards patrolling the area fairly regularly. Nobody bothered me. Lots of people get stranded there, so I guess they are used to it.

When I flew through there Feb 2015 there were sections (new) of the airport that I didn't even see any people in. You could have a whole gate to your self!
