In the podcast, the minister said for sure they would be gone completely in June, and then talked about possible flight from FLL, so maybe she mis-spoke??? But the SJU flights I thought were stopping as of May 1...

As posted in the JB thread...flights are open through October which is the end of their present schedule. They ADDED another Saturday N/S this year because of high demand and now they say "low volume"...don't think so..

(also they are bidding to takeover Virgin America...nothing to do with this but shows they are expanding and not contracting)

That is pretty scary that a SXM tourism official made such a big mistake..

I would be hesitant to book a flight after October. As the date gets close, they could cancel the flights altogether, and you have to pay top $$ with another carrier for a last minute fare. But I guess that could happen with any carrier- They cancel your flight, and you scramble to book another one with someone else.

Except they are NOT cancelling any flights to SXM. You could make that statement with ANY airline to anyplace. As I said, they ADDED flights from BOS to SXM this year.

As I said- "I guess it could happen with any carrier", I just didn't put the "anyplace". We had our flight canceled to SXM on AA, and they didn't bother to notify us, even after we had requested the update service to contact us by e-mail, text, and phone of any itinerary changes. They did not contact us. I just happened to check, and found the flight had been canceled. We were able to get another flight after calling AA. They did not automatically put us on another flight.

I still don't understand how the minister made such a big mistake.

And if it were me, just a $100 service credit to allow one to try to book a flight from SJU to SXM wouldn't cut it, for me. That would really stink, trying to figure out what to do at the last minute, like that.

As I have said before, the luster has worn off JB in some ways and they will eventually be just like any other airline.

You are absolutely correct. They already are just any other airline. I sent in a complaint e-mail regarding the drop of service from SJU to SXM. I won't hold my breath waiting for an answer.

What does the sins of AA have to do with Jet Blue?

If there aren't enough travelers to support that route what are they supposed to do.

Hi JD,

I fly 3-4 times a year on JB, JFK to SXM. My experiences have been professional & positive from booking flights to landing.

Instead of dreading getting on a plane I don't mind it at all when it's on Jet Blue.

Our daughter did however have a surly flight attendant in January & we laughed about it all week. She happened to ask about the snack choices & he flung the basket in her face. You see there were only a few items in the basket, she couldn't see inside. If you ever meet Rich on a Jet Blue flight to JFK, it will be an experience.

So whenever we fly Jet Blue we compare notes about Rich, to all our family & friends.

Lyn

Nothing other than fortifying my two previous responses that it happens on other carriers.

So why would you not book a flight on JB to SXM after October? (other than the fact that you can't)

Can't think of any good reason to not think about booking what isn't available and looking forward to knowing that the flight that isn't available could be canceled or not.
I would feel much better not knowing that they canceled a flight I didn't book, even though it never existed.
