The Crazy Cow is closed and the Pink Iguana will be moving. I understand the marina there has been sold and they will be building condos. Also Bert is no longer at El Zafiro. Heard he maybe going to another island. El Zafiro has expanded their menu. Techno music festival at Palm Beach.

Is that where they are talking about building the sewage plant, where Crazy Cow and Pink Iguana have been? Not sure about the status of the music festival at Palm Beach, due to the blockade..

I'm not sure where the sewage plant will be but hopefully not there!

There was a story in the DH about it today, couldn't figure out where they were talking, but they were basically talking about filling in part of the lagoon to build it.

I only quickly skimmed something about this within the last day or two and truthfully, I assumed they were talking about the Salt Pond - so I guess its a case of MY BAD here and I should really pay more attention.

But now that I think about it, I do recall reading somewhere the various ECO groups on the island were justifiably very upset about more taking of the lagoon for whatever the purposes and the article did mention they'd already taken too much of it for the Causeway.

Just MHO, but if St. Martin and Sint Maarten are finally collaborating on something and both sides are paying for it, look out St. Martiners on both sides of the island. Why do I think this won't be inexpensive? I hope we don't end up looking at Dutch-side road blocks down the road? Just sayin.......

Respectfully,

pat

Carol,
My understanding from the DH article, is that the proposed sewage treatment plant will be on a man made "island" built into the lagoon close to the causeway and French boarder.

Thanks for that info. Interesting how things can change so quickly on that little rock. I wonder if Bert is moving on to Karakter in Curacao?

I saw Cole Bay in an article but not sure what that means. In the lagoon off Cole Bay?

Bert, formerly of Karakter, who was more recently managing the restaurant at el Zafiro. I don't know his last name.

The new development near Pt. Pirouette here is Porto Maho. It will include the area where the Crazy Cow is presently located I believe. New marina etc. if anyone is interested.

When we were on the island in Feb, we heard that the parking lot for the workers at the airport was going to be moved to where the Pink Iguana is now. Then the airport would use the old lot for more space for all the private jets that are flying into SXM. Rumors abound! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />
