Has anyone used a Passport Card to enter the BVI via ferry? We will bringing our children and grandchildren down this year but need to obtain either a passport or the card for the grand kids. Passport card is much cheaper but not if they won't accept them!

I am sure I will be corrected, but passport cards are used more for workers going back and forth, like charter Captains.

If they are going to travel to anywhere considered "international" it would be wiser to get the passport book. If they are only ever going to travel between the US and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean (including BVI), and Bermuda, then the passport card would be sufficient.

Sounds like it can be used to return to the US but doesn't say anything about BVI accepting it. I'd get the passport book - why take any chances.

The BVI gladly accepts the passport cards for arrival by boat.

May want to have a notarized letter from the parent/s of the kids, stating that you are allowed to have the kids with you and take them out of US. Silly sounding I know, but my wife just had this issue arise Friday. She and our daughter are traveling with a 17 y/o female, TSA hit them up for said letter from the parents of the 17 y/o. Good news was that same TSA agent said he was 'allowed to use his discretion' on the matter, so they traveled on. Just a CYA thought...
