Wondering if there is any way to tell distance from one place to another.(Google Maps?????) (okok I admit i am not a computer genius). We are staying in a new place this trip and trying to figure if such and such restaurant is near enough to walk to, or how far is to pastry shop etc.
I know, I know when I arrive I probably wont care.. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> BTW We are aware of our surroundings and careful where we are. Thanks in advance. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

MAP

If you know the island fairly well this map will help you.
Zoom in or out as needed.

We have a detailed map of SXM that we ordered via mail but I've heard it's available on the Boardwalk in Philipsburg.

I too am not a computer genius but I use maps.google.com write in the place name and location comes up very clearly, then we check our map. You can also enter address of where you're staying then the name of place you'd like to go (whether or not you know the exact address) and you get your answer as to distance.

If you tell TTOL where you're staying someone can tell you what's nearby.

I like to use this site to determine distances:

(mostly a BVI guy, so it's rare that I can say anything useful on this forum)

Well, Dan THAT was very useful here. And I'm sure you're a star at the BVI site!
