Took these photos on February 21, I am sure more progress has been made by now.

The new bar - was told this was going to open "soon", but you know island time.

The old bar is open, but I'm not sure how the new one will work. They may use it for serving drinks but patrons may not be able to go near it. If you visit, give us an update.

We were just there last week. Everything seemed to be operating normal other then there was no WIFI for the customers, due to the construction we were told. The bathrooms are temporary and are in a trailer in the parking lot, but they were adequate and clean. We had an enjoyable day and our lunch was also good. Lots of construction going on. It will be interesting to see how it ends up.

When you go to their webcam you can hear dishes clinking and music playing so something is open there.

We were at SBBG last week and asked our waiter when they would be opening the new bars. According to our waiter, they would be open in time for the regatta races, which I believe starts tomorrow. They did open the new section near the old bar to accomodate many bikers arriving from one of the cruise ships. The ribs were fantastic, best I've had there.

We were there one day and saw a bunch of bikers, didn't know where they came from. Do they bring their bikes on the ship with them? I am sure it will be crazy down there when the regatta is on. I check out the web cam every day and noticed the ocean is much calmer this week. There were some pretty rough days while we were there. I like the garlic shrimp there and hubby likes the KLM pizza. I'll try the ribs next time we visit. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Yes, they bring their bikes with them on the ship. There were so many bikes parked near the entrance of SBBG. We sat with several of the bikers, had a nice conversation. I agree, the ocean was very rough while we were there most of February, especially on 2/19 and 2/20. Finally about Thursday last week the ocean was very calm at Maho. I spent most of Friday in the water, it was beautiful. Saturday looked nice as well but that was departure day. Just looked at the Maho Webcam and it looks very calm. In fact, they are putting chairs near the water. I will try the garlic shrimp next trip. I loved the garlic shrimp at Andy's and Cheryl's. Really miss Andy's cooking!

That's interesting, thanks for the info. I'll try the ribs next time I go to SSBG. We left last Thursday before the beach got calm.

We were there yesterday. Road was crowded but not SSBB as most on the road come over on Taxis or party bus and leave around 1pm. Bathrooms are up and running but little else was complete in the new area. Saw a new brick oven in one area so a pizza will be a staple

Lot of construction going on. BIG project. Kinda reminds me of South Beach.

The "new bar" is up and running. The upper section around the bar is almost complete, partially open, and the pool should be done soon. It,s not the old sunset bar of years ago, but I was surprised how nice it is! Lots more space and viewing of planes landing. BTW, lots of sand yesterday with 3 rows of chairs on the beach.
