OK for something on the lighter side. What song reminds you of the carribean and SXM?--- My choice is "No shoes, no shirt, no problem"-- Kenny Chesney. Add yours <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Finally a topic I can relate to. Ok, so most of you are not going to recognize my selection of songs, however you asked and I get to contribute.#1 song has to be from a Canadian I met at the Dinghy Dock one night and Matt had put it on. It was a recording that this Canadian living on the island had recorded and it so reminds me of the Caribbean although it is not really the Caribbean beat. "Tea for Two" by Dave Nichols and the rest of the songs he gave me a cd of have to be my fondest memory. The other songs in no particular order are "All Night Long" by Cocoa Tea, "Come by Me" by Baron, "Hush Baby Hush" by Buju Banton, Bob Marley's "Iron Lion Zion", "Big Belly Man" by Byron Lee & the Dragonnaires and finally "Oh Carolina" by the one and only Shaggy!
Let me know if any of you know those songs ....lol

The whole Chesney "Be As You Are" album, from 2004, a great expression of the Caribbean vacation attitude.

This post brought laughter because, while it wouldn't be my choice of song, I always remember our first SXM visit and a band performing at Little Bay Beach (before Divi) repeatedly played "I SHOT THE SHERIFF "

We have been going to Kenny Chesney concerts and then flying to SXM on the next morning more than once. So for us, any Kenny song has SXM vibe. As we stay at club O, the I love this bar song totally relates to Papagayo, the Perch, and our island times.
Actually, as I type this, sitting at studio 18 at Club O, Kenny Chesney is playing.....

Heard this song blasting out one year while we were waiting for the Carnival parade to start in Marigot, "Angel" by Shaggy... https://vimeo.com/32091216 When we're home, the "Soca Butterfly" CD by Byron Lee & The Dragonaires takes us back to St. Maarten, this is the title song from that CD... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8nZbu1wM3A

My favorite line is from Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talking": "I'm going where the weather suits my clothes".
And speaking of island music, we just got our Jimmy Buffett tickets - last Sat. in August, Camden, NJ.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

Check out a song called "Rum" by Brothers Osborne. It's a must to listen to that song on Orient.
