Buying wine--especially French wine, Super U
Cashing cashier checks--Do you mean travelers checks?? If so, a casino. For cashier's checks, no idea.
Fresh meats--again, Super U. 1 to 1 dollar to the Euro. Specials all the time, A couple of newspaper articles recently that state their prices are the best on island.
Buy gas--Huhm, I don't know. The price is fixed on the Dutch side, possibly on the french side? Not sure. In general, the cost is not enough in my standard stay to even worry about, versus the cost for other things... We fill up once and it costs $30 to $50. Nothing to worry about, in the scheme of things.

For good wine, arbitrarily $20 or more, Select Wine is the place to go. Get the coupon from the web site and save 10%. We get our cheaper wine at Super U, along with meat and almost everything else. They also do 1 to 1 for cash. Gas is cheapest at the Cadisco on the Lagoon between Marigot and Sandy Ground. It's 0.89 and they do 1 to 1 for cash. The government did just lower the rates on the Dutch side, but some stations have ignored it. Moreover, they play funny games with exchange rate at times. That can't happen when you buy gas 1 to 1. Delta Petroleum also claims to do 1 to 1 at all locations. Having said all that, it's probably not worth more than $3 on a 10 gallon fill-up.

Cadisco for gas.....near Orient...French side. Grand Marche for wine. Simply had great prices but were undergoing a changeover last week and some shelves were empty and in the process of being removed.
