Thinking about a get away and have never been to DeAnza Springs but have seen advertisements in the Bulletin. If you've been there and know first hand about it, would you recommend it. Looks big with lots of nude hiking opportunities which we'd love. Also looks desert like and was wondering how dirty dusty it might be

We've been there a couple of times, staying a couple of days once in our RV and once in a tiny motel room. Liked it a lot both times (once in May and once in late September), although they were both midweek so not much going on. Nice pools and clubhouse and the hiking is unmatched compared to any other clubs that I know of. You can walk long hikes au naturel, plenty of trails. Dusty, yes, but was not an issue with us.

Though not as close as the club we are members of, DeAnza Springs is what we'd call a local club and we've visited, for the day, many times. Yes, it can get dusty. It is the desert and the roads are dirt/sand/gravel and with a passing vehicle or golf cart, or when the wind blows it can kick up some dust. One of the reasons we don't go more often or have become members at DeAnza is because my wife hates the dust but ... she likes the naked hiking and each time, we try and pick a different trail or visit a previous trail and go further on it. Highly recommend for anyone that loves to hike and desires the ability to hike nude.

We also visit mid week, mainly because we belong to Glen Eden and during the weekends when there are events or activities at both clubs, we tend to visit our own club which is only 30 mins away. DeAnza is about 2 hours away.

We've enjoyed our day trips there quite a bit and the people are friendly.

Thanks guys. I think were going to defer and take the RV out there some time so we have our own space etc. Love the expanded hiking for sure. For this brief trip, we've decided to hit Cypress Cove again. Have been monitoring the daily weather and forecast for both places and Florida just looks better. We will definitely visit DeAnza soon though. Thanks again for the feedback.

Coming your way next Tuesday Carol and staying for 8 days. Been monitoring the weather in both places and low 40's night time temps seems common at DeAnza this time of year. Lows over this weekend are supposed to be 44, 38 and 40. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Shocked.gif" alt="" /> Not 'normal' for here, but it does warm up quickly in the morning, usually. Hope next week is warmer for you!

Wondering what is the risk of meeting other non nudists on the hiking trails at DeAnza. Certainly would not want to offend anyone out for family textile hike.

Was wondering the same. Are the hiking trails on their private property, or public land where others might be encountered?
The website says Anza Borrego State Park offers miles of wilderness trails for nude hiking.... Is it legal to be nude in a state park?

If you are concerned about legality you need to check with the office there. We were told it is ok to hike naked anywhere, just don't get lost. Didn't see anyone else at all during our 3-4 hikes in May and September, sooo much open space out there and so few people. But I would guess that encounters with non-nudists can happen once in a while if one hikes far enough.

Would recommend that anyone hiking nude in the wilderness go in groups in spite of what the resort says. Never know what kooks might be out there.

The only thing to be concerned about hiking there are the rattlesnakes. We were there in October mid week and the place was dead plus the pool and hot tub were dirty. They were constructing a new enclosure for the indoor pool so they were making some improvements. Glen Eden or Desert Sun are better options IMHO.
