We were supposed to go to Marigot today but ended up at Orient instead. It was super busy with six cruise ships being in port. We tried to rent loungers at Sun Beach Clubber but they were all taken; Aloha was shut, so we shuffled down the beach toward Pedros and rented from a guy by Luiz's place. The guy at SBC said he hoped to have power by tonight and should be up and running next week; we should still be here and will hopefully see some lights on next time we go over. I took some photos and have tried to post them twice, without success, so I'll try and post them tomorrow. Not sure if it's the internet or Photobucket, that is doing some maintenance work on their site.

Hi, if you rented yellow chairs, those belong to Brothers, blue building, 2nd from the end, no sign yet, but working inside. The chair"man" would have been Ruban

Thanks for the update! I sure hope some of them can start serving food soon! I think I would have gone to Orient a different day though!!

Yes, that's where we were. Drank Pedros beer and paid to use their washroom!

Been trying to send photos but having no luck again. I think it's the internet, will try later.

It's almost time to pack the old suitcases and go home So today we did our last trip to Orient Bay to say goodbye for another year. Unfortunately, there's not too much to report on the progress there. Sun Beach Clubber have their loungers out and are selling beer, but they don't have the restaurant operational yet - still no power. The same goes for Aloha. Both places have tables and chairs in place though. Hubby didn't want to sit by SBC so we moved along the beach and rented from Ruban at Brothers, and bought our beer at Pedros. The seaweed was really bad today, both in and out of the water. The sand had been raked clean where we sat but the seaweed remained on the beach in a pile. I took some photos and will post them when I get home; the internet has been really bad and it's hard to get them uploaded and posted. I've just given up for now.

That pile will start to get pretty rich as it bakes in the sun. Not a good start. Can't wait for the pictures.

The Saint Martin Nature Foundation has issued a warning for increased amounts of sargassum weed on several beaches this year. They suggest it will be very bad for many months. Sadly this will affect many businesses on Orient and Dawn Beach.

Safe travels and will look forward to your pictures.
