Honestly, the best place to view the regatta from land is as the boats go through the Simpson Bay drawbridge!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'm only partly being facetious there.. The boats are so far away from land when they are racing that you can see a lot of sails, etc., but you really can't see what's going on. As far as the times, I think they start around 9 or so each day, but you should check out the Regatta official website for that. The BEST place to see the Regatta, where you can actually SEE what's going on, is on one of the chase boats. There's a group here that is going on the Saturday morning chase boat on the Tango, but I kind of doubt there are any more spots left on that. Aquamania perhaps has some spots left on some of the other trips though, or there are other boats that do chase boats. That honestly is the only way to actually see some racing, is to be on a boat. From land, I think it's Saturday?? you can see a lot of the boats in the Simpson Bay area, and Friday you can see a lot of boats at Mullet. Saturday I think you can see it from the French side. But as I said, really, the most fun on land is to go watch a bridge opening in the evening as they're coming back, either standing by the canal there by Royal Palm, or in the Upper View Lounge at Royal Palm, or at the Yacht Club. The Yacht Club is always PACKED though, so tough to get a drink there.
The Regatta is a fun experience but if you're in to sailing, get on a boat to watch it!
By the way, if you're still going to be on island on the 8th, we're having a party at the Greenhouse in Simpson Bay. Check out People talk for info.
