...just can't figure out how to search for this here (probably because my fingers are too cold here in YYZ!)....can you tell me which companies will deliver your car to the airport and complete paperwork there?

+1 on Kenneys, he was waiting by the luggage carousel.

I've used him for both trips every year for the past 12-15 years and for the part 5-6 years he meets us outside the side exit as opposed to the front area where the taxis line up. If he's not there, give him a couple of minutes since he's probably escorting someone else to their car in the parking lot.

Outside of the luggage area is no way close to "by the luggage carousel" as you stated. Lots of difference as he would not be allowed to be in the carousel area unless he was on the same flight or arrival as you.

I am at a loss as to why this topic gets so much time on this forum. No matter who the car rental company is, the rental car at airport, in parking lot of airport, 100 feet from airport, a mile from airport???? Everyone is in rental car on their way to wherever in less than 20-40 minutes from leaving the terminal. What am I missing?

In order to get to Travel Rent a Car that we use, we have to go through that. Sometimes, it takes FOREVER because of the people trying to get jet blasted (stupid people). It DOES matter. Travel USED to bring the car to the airport and I don't know why they don't anymore.

Ya know...I have gotten pretty good at leaving the need to rush ANYWHERE as soon as I step on the plane for SXM.
When compared with the January BOS weather on departure the "delay" getting to the car rental (TripleA) is in no way a negative. It is warm, there is no snow on the ground and maybe I will get to see a sideshow during our trip by the beach.
I should also add that I have NEVER been "delayed" for more than a minute or two while a plane lands or takes off.
Relax mode is turned on when leaving the airport (used to be when leaving the plane but that changed after my last customs bag check fiasco)

boucharda--It is not planes taking off and landing that is causing delays around Sunset. It is the morons who stand and/or walk in the road and the taxi drivers who literally stop in the middle of the road to pick up and drop off their passengers. It has become a very dangerous situation when there are a lot of ships in. I only KNOW of one person who has gotten hit by a car there, but I suspect, without knowing, that there have been several. For me, it makes no difference as far as a car rental, since we normally stay at Beachside Villas, so we have to go by the zoo at Sunset anyway.

Now THAT is a whole different situation! If I show up and they say that they don't have any cars, they will not get my business again, that's for sure!!

Leisure Car Rental meets you outside the airport. On the return they are located at the top of the airport. Nice people. They are sponso rs here.

Kenny's is the best. We have been using him for the last 10-12 years. Lesley is always there to greet you with a friendly smile, except for one year that he had been injured, then his daughter and wife were there instead. We have never had a bad experience. I recommend him highly.

There's always the option of taking a cab to your apartment, and having your car delivered there the next day.

I have a question that isn't directed at anyone in particular. If picking up rental cars directly at the airport were to become more popular, would that lead to more congestion at the airport? Could it lead to a traffic situation like that at Maho Beach?
My wife and I live in St. Maarten during the winter and in the Boston area the rest of the year.

Could it lead to a traffic situation like that at Maho Beach? ravi, There was a time way back in the day, I'm thinking in the 70's and 80's and maybe even into the very early 90's, when the old airport had a small parking lot across from it and abutting the lagoon, where people would leave their rental cars if their agent wasn't able to meet them for their departing flights. It was almost commical to see all the cars driven in and left there in any way people could manage to cram them in. And the irony was they all had the keys left in either the ashtray or the ignition and no one ever worried about theft. I always wondered how the first car in was ever going to get back out again but they always seemed to as this is the way it was done for years. Having seen the chaos it created I can understand why they wanted to do away with the practice, but I've always understood the rental car ban at the airport was enacted to provide a clearer opportunity for the taxi drivers to attain their fair share of revenue from the arriving passengers.
