While I personally don't need one many of the women that travel do take a light sweater or wind-breaker type jacket. If you are near the water or a rain comes up the wind can make it feel cool in the evenings. Better to be safe than sorry.

JAR,

While I usually don't absolutely NEED one, I always pack one and generally do bring it along in the evenings. As already suggested, sometimes, after a long day in the sun, the evening breezes can be a bit chilly and I find some places will crank the ac to a point the sweater is well appreciated.

I bring a light windbreaker jacket, but don't usually end up using it for much more than getting to the car at the airport on the way home. Murphy would suggest that if you don't pack a sweater, you'll end up wishing you had.

I always take a sweater when we go out in the evening or to the Grocery store because of AC. The last week or so, the temp has been 74-76 in the evenings with a breeze. I'd bring the sweater. Wear it on the plane and leave your Winter coat at home.

We have been here since last Saturday and I have not needed my sweater. I wear one to get here so always have one with me. As others have said you may need it because of air conditioning temperatures more than outdoor temperatures. I wish I had brought it to the grocery store.

I live in SE Florida.....99.9 percent of the time a sweater or jacket is NOT required. Last night and looks like tonight, a sweater or jacket will be worn...along with long pants instead of shorts. How can anyone predict the weather for next week??? Odds are a sweater will NOT be necessary...but since it is calling for only in the 60s in Florida for most of the week.....chances are the cool front could reach down into the Caribeann. Not necessarily 60s there, but a bit cooler weather may be happening. It's not unusual when the winds blow just the right way and bring down a cool front!!!!

I wear one on the plane and it doubles for evening but I've yet to use it. One DAY there was a storm and the morning was cold--yes, I said cold, so I used the jacket I'd worn down. But that was 1st time in 20 years so a sweater is fine.

I always take a pashmina on the plane so I do have something to wrap myself in.
Cheers and yes, it's cold in the evening here. All this week.

Cold in the evening? Heck it's cold during the DAY here today!

I always take SOMETHING that has long sleeves to SXM, not necessarily a sweater per se, but often I just wear it on the plane. I am always cold on planes. A couple of years ago at Regatta, there was a COLD rain in the evening and I was glad to have a jacket then.

I have never worn a sweater when visiting St. Martin/St. Maarten, but we usually visit in November and April and temperatures are warmer then. We have gone also in February and March and found the winds cooler then, but not cold enough for a sweater. If you find it cold, rum helps!

That's so funny because, as you know, I would guess about ninety percent of our trips have always been those same months, and I either wear or bring a sweater almost every night so I'm thinking you're right - not enough rum on my part! Thanks for the suggestion and I'll try to remember this for the next visit.
