The Winner for the "North of Pedro's Restaurants Opening Contest" is DPD1964!!!
The Sun Beach Clubber had a limited opening today with beach chairs and beer. According to contest rules, the first place that offered food or drink for money marked the opening and that happened today...I know because I was there. I don't know if I bought the first beer but I was close (pictures to follow).
I will follow up with DPD1964 to make sure the drink at the Perch is awarded properly!
Thanks to all who played. I believe that 3 or 4 places will be fully up and running within 2 weeks.

Only 3+ months late from promised open date. Does that fall into the island time category, or does it take longer?

We are in St Maarten now but won't get to Orient until next week. Can't wait to see the new buildings and maybe more places will be open.

Sadly, this whole "upgrade" was so badly handled that pretty well everyone lost. The vendors, their devoted patrons, and the politicians who just look terrible. Perhaps the only winners are the contractors that got a 2.3M Euro job out of it.
