Apparently the white solid or dashed line in the center of the road is now the domain of high speed morcycle drivers, they no longer simply advance themselves through stopped traffic but now use the road center to pass everyone at any speed. Saw many close calls, one maniac standing on his seat, front wheel in the air while driving down center line between traffic in both directions. I can't believe there are not more accidents.

Then there are the really safety conscious cyclists who at least wear a helmet.........sans chin strap attached. Cycle makes contact, body flies off cycle, helmet departs head, head strikes immovable object - at speed. Been going on for years.

When we first started visiting SXM many car drivers used the center of the road. My husband said they used the white line to drive straight.

We just returned and I can attest for what seemed like an increase in motorcycle nuttiness. In addition saw many more 3 and 4 wheel ATVs, some travelling in groups of 15 or 20.

And those can be attributed to tours being offered on the island. Probably most are in conjunction with a cruise ship tour but they are available to people staying on the island as well.

Yes, always lots of them on big cruise days. Paticularly annoying are those we call "mickey mouse" cars. They slow down traffic and cause impatience in other drivers. Saw a convoy of them yesterday and one of them was having a hard time getting up the hill, the "leader of the pack" had to come back down and use his vehicle to push the other up... very funny to watch. Today we saw the leader yelling and tooting at a bus because it caused the convoy to slow down... I love this island.... something to make me smile every day.
