OK, Hopefully we are getting close. The following is a list of people still in the running to guess the week that the first Cabaret would be open (serving food or drink for $$). I would have never guessed that I would be there for the opening but now it looks like a good chance. In any event the lofty award of $10 at the Perch still stands! Good luck to all (the first person listed "owns the week"):

When the contest first started it was stated the first one to choose the date was the winner. All the others for the same date are non winners.

So if my week is correct, I become Ms. Congeniality? If the winner is unable to fulfill his or her duties as a drinker of free rum drinks, I may be called upon to step up?

On island right now and the furthest along appears to be Aloha followed by Sun Beach. Either could do a "soft" opening at any time. Curiously, there are many places with little or no action. I would bet that the development will not be filled out this season.

Hi, asked Aloha yesterday - they said maybe a week
Interesting approach Aloha vs Sun Beach
Sun Beach is using the fabric roof panel option - faster than roofing, but their insides look further along
Aloha roofed over the deck and added a bar, but the inside looks a mess. LeString? [last one north end - orange] somewhere in between
Only these 3 appear to have gas hook up, means the others - shuttered and no action yesterday - are weeks behind. Leave on the 14th, pretty sure at least one will be open.
I do not understand why they do not put out the chairs and charge something for the chairs and a sign saying full service opening soon - but maybe a permit issue or maybe they want to do it right or not at all

I just received a bunch of pictures this morning, which I will post later, as we have to go out. One of them had chairs on the beach though??

Pedro has chairs - blue - out on the south and north side. The yellow chairs are just to the north of the Pedro chairs and appear to belong to the new water sport or new clothing store, have not asked and no signage
Spoke with Sun Beach, they are almost ready
but wait for it,
NO water or electricty!
When they get hooked up they will open, fingers crossed for end of week, but for now out of their control. One of the electric boxes was open, just bare wires, no hook up
Sad

OK, I probably talked to a different person at Aloha and she said "no power no water maybe 2-3 weeks". Maybe that is why there is not much going on at other units. When we drove by this afternoon I did notice
That the cables had been run but not terminated. Will check and photo tomorrow. Wow, sure feels like home cooking going on

When I get home I might open up dates in May!!!

I talked to a man this morning, just after it drizzled - regardless no power - should have guessed when I realized they were working off generators for the power tools!
Aloha was still working as walked past around 4, Sun was closed up up, suspect they are done until the get power

Did an extensive survey today. The bottom line is that everything was done very professionally. Yes, the buildings are wood but the roofs are robust and the doors solid with very heavy duty hardware. I was concerned about the exposed electrical conduits but those are universally for street lamps which not yet been installed. Main tranformer house and distribution centers are in an buttoned up (I will send pictures for the geeks). Was only able to get into one unit but the main distrubion panel was in with exposed mains waiting for the disconnect switch.

So it looks to me that these folks are now at the mercy of NV Gebe to install main breakers pull the switch and turn on the taps. There is no obvious indication that the contractor did not do their job.

Still conflicting statements about "when" but that is because they don't know when the NV Bebe trucks will show up.

BTW NV Gebe is the local power / water company.

The pic with the yellow chairs that Carol posted are in front of what will be Brothers - light blue, 2nd or 3rd from the south end. Talked to the owner today. He is renting out chairs, thinking maybe to have a cooler and sell drinks. He is waiting for electricity to start his renovations ..... long wait I fear, so he says if no elec then its a generator for him

Yes, Carol, I saw a picture of a Gebe plant that I was sure was the plant in Galisbay but it appears that power is EDF and Veoila for water. I don't have quite the same research resources here... The "N.V." did make me wonder.

In any event, same problem. Will keep an eye out for the last few days we are here.
