We are 4 people flying into Cancun however staying in Playa Del Carmen. We do NOT want to do the transfers thru our TA and are looking for private transfer companies.
Anyone done this and know of anyone I can contact?
Thanks in advance ~ <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Here is A LINK to the one we use. Always on time, polite and clean. The driver will offer to make one stop too.

They have great tours, book on the same page.

We've reserved with USA transfers based on your recommendation.

Have you ever used them for any tours, like to Chichen Itza? We're headed down to Cancun at the end of February.

We haven't been to Mexico since Cancun in 1993. We've covered the entire Caribbean islands and now coming back to Mexico and doing Playa Del Carmen.
We like to do our own Transfers, thank you for the inputs.

Now if you have any thoughts on what to do for a week while in Playa, feel free to post those here too. THANK YOU!!

You can ask the USA transfer driver to do a quick stop at small store just south of airport to grab a few cold ones, no problem, no extra cost. Relax after the flight.
He Bug, havin a good time in Maui. Found a great beach with a CO section (not Little Beach). Hopefully off to LB in a couple days.

We use Canada Transfers, they're a little cheaper, provide a "bottle" service, and also provide tours.

Just a postscript to this. We used USA transfers and found them to be very good, reliable and comfortable.

We also booked a private tour to Chichen Itza with them and they were great. Highly recommended.

USA and Canada Transfers are both excellent choices and have comparable pricing.

Lots to do - what are you interested in? Diving or snorkeling, swimming cenotes, seeing ruins, driving the coast of Cozumel, daysail?

You might want to consider renting a car at the airport. Sometimes a week rental is less than transfer fees. Since you want to DO Playa, a care would open more possibilities.

Yes the ADO bus is a great option for Playa - comfortable AND cheap!

Bug, car rental is cheap. It's the taxes, fees, insurance that's double the base charge!

I just booked r/t transfers w Lomas for $47pp $94 total. Property booking agent quoted $130 total.

Oh yeah!!! Totally right JP!
Some of them really get you on the insurance. A few even charge extra for glass and tires! No way should you drive around with just a credit card insurance. The way it was explained to us- "If the cars, uh, touch with damage, everybody goes to jail". God forbid one of the vehicles is a Taxi. You will be surrounded by 47 Taxistas saying, "Gringo did it". Thats why we have a dash cam in our car! Here's one!

By the time you factor in side trips on the colectivo, a few Mega or Soriano taxi runs, we always found it easier, if not close to the same price. Add the convenience factor of not having to hoof it in to Xel-Ha, Punta Venando and Xpu-ha from the highway and throw in an expedition to Coba or Chicken Pizza, Rental seems the best option for the OP.

Not all car rentals are the same.
We do know of two agencies who include insurance with the rate; America Car Rental and Caribbean Car rental. Our neighbor rents a car for around $150usd a week including insurance, someplace down by Plaza Antigua.

We've had great experiences with ISIS (also on Coz), America, Avant, and GoCarrito all of which include the full insurance in their pricing (except tires/glass). You can also have a car delivered to your resort free of charge if you just want to rent a day or two.
