We are going to St. Martin for the first time in March. We've been reading on here about people checking in for their flight out at 10:30 for a 3:30 flight. We have never checked in 5 hours before a flight, so looking for info on how much time we need to allow for check in. Our flight is at 4:30 on a Friday.

Thank you in advance.

OK, if you intend to go to the airport and just STAY, two hours is probably good enough.

Many people here go and check in, check their bags and leave and go get something to eat. What airline are you on??? USUALLY you can check in way early on AA. Otherwise, maybe not..

As stated standard 2 hour check in should be fine. SXM airport is as modern as most and can handle a lot of people. Still have cattle call at boarding but that's not unique for SXM. Friday should give you additional advantage since most SXM timeshares run from Sat or Sun.

We check our luggage for our flight to Toronto 4 hrs ahead & go to sunset beach bar to have lunch & watch the jets land. But don't lose track of time & watch your own plane land.lol

This past summer we attempted that with AA. We were told that we could only check bags 3 hours or less ahead of our flight. I assume that it was because the airport was very busy that day and they did not have enough help. They also told us that early checking of bags was no longer an accepted procedure. I suggest you call the airline's desk at the St. Maarten airport and verify how early you can check your bags.
