I'd love to hike from Leverick to Hog Heaven for lunch. Has anyone done this? Wondering if there's a trail or we'd have to walk the road.

Holy cr@p, by road it's about a 10 minute drive with no shoulder on most of the road, it would take forever to walk it. No trails that I'm aware of.

If you're in decent enough shape it's not bad. I ran on the hills a few times when we stayed at Leverick in May 2014. Only made it all the way to HH once. Not sure of any trail but the road was deserted in the early am.

My wife loves to run up there. Goats look at her like she's nuts.

When you run to the right (there is a sign) off the main road there is a bit of a stretch with nothing around. Press on and you will find HH.

Run those hills eat more ribs drink more beer.

Google maps places it at a few km. it's not that far.

nothing is far. it's the 45 degree angle that is an ankle biter.

of course I know people that would relish the climb up the ghut to get there.

and some that would do it just for the ride down on a long-board.

My recollection is that it would be a lot closer coming back than going... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

We walked back to Leverick after taking the taxi up. Not too bad.

I'm with Kris. The distance isn't bad but that's a helluva hike going up. Ya better know what you're in for.

Planning to do it this afternoon - will report back! At the very least, we'll be ready for some BBQ when we get to the top

A long, hot walk up the mountain but amazing views and a well- earned, fabulous lunch at the end! It took a little under an hour and a half to get to the top, just under an hour to walk back.

So 2 1/2 hours roundtrip when if you drive it's about a 30 minute rt. That's a LOT of valuable drinking/eating time. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Life is for living. Beautiful views that Hogs Heaven has, they are best appreciated while you can breathe! I'm not 30 or even 60 any more. Running up hills just ruins your knees!

PS:I walk (as Brits we do not call it 'hike', hiking is a totally different concept ) at over 1000 ft above sea level daily for 3-4 miles twice daily, , but would never consider 'hiking' to Hogs Heaven. I am on vacation. Take a break.

We took a cab. It was a long steep ride. Awesome view and food. Recommend going there but definitely by vehicle!!
