So we have tropical storm Alex near the Azores. This is the first tropical storm of 2016. Probably will not get near Caribbean. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

That should have an impact on the swell forecast.

This weekend would not be a good time to sail across the Atlantic. Those three systems are and will create real waves. Some will end up in the BVI after a long ocean crossing. Some are already there. Others will tear themselves apart crashing into waves from the competing storms. Some of this will make swell a challenge to forecast and lead to changing swell conditions for a week to ten days. I am not an ocean passage forecaster. But, the storms to the North will change the BVI condition well outside of the "normal" range. I will let someone else make the claim they can predict the actual weather the next 7 days. Each skipper should be aware of where his boat is and how his boat is protected. ![[Linked Image]](http://passageweather.com/maps/natlantic/wind/042.png)

There goes the theory that it takes warm water to maintain a Hurricane.
