Not working for me either.
Also, haven't been able to get the Sunset Beach Bar cam for many weeks! Has the site been changed or shut down?

I think the Sunset webcam has been taken down while they are doing renovations.

Funny how many of us check it regularly....in my case to create a better setting for my mind than the conference call of the hour.

The webcam's working fine right now. The beach keeps getting narrower - NO row of chairs, just some scattered in the back.

Soon the Perch will be out floating where the swim platforms were.

And here I thought that the web cam might actually be underwater by now.

When we were there in Nov., Club O was setting up 2 rows of chairs on the other side of the railing (there's still sand there) south of the Perch, as there was only room for one row on the beach.

It's crowded since the beach is so narrow, but if you get there early, you'll have no problem setting up your own chairs.

Can anyone report on how the beach is doing just north of Papagayo?

Hi, I was not aware there were places on the Club O end of the beach to set up your chairs

With the set backs [charitable comment] to the new resto buildings - we normally would have gone there, now debating where to hang - I know we can rent Club O chairs, but thought about maybe our own chairs? - there is an area further north along the beach, but did not know about Club O and your own chairs possibility
I even thought about sitting in front of the unused buildings, but there looks to be seaweed there
Arriving Jan 28
Thanks

All of Orient is a public beach. Club O does not own the beach in front of their property. You can put your chairs anywhere you find a space BUT do not move their chairs or try to sit in the front row, that is a no-no. We always set up in the back. It is going to be a challenge this year to find a spot because of the narrow beach and Club O is squeezing in as many of their chairs as possible. In November we were sitting between Pedro and Perch.

Thanks for the update, I know the beach is public, but the Club O chairs seemed to be everywhere, so it made me hesitate. Good to know, the key is to respect what's there - your chairs and umbrella, where did you get them?

The condo hotel where we stay store them for us. We have been staying at the same place for many years and they do this as a kindness for us. If you want to rent there is a sponsor of this site called Packlight and they have very reasonable rates.

There is very little space between Pedro's & perch for chairs. Club o is putting chairs above the little fence above the sand as well. Very crowded by 10:00 a.m. windy today but water cleared a lot from yesterday!!

It is true that the beach is public. What I find interesting is that I had come to understand that Club O has a license that allows them so many chairs for the beach ...which when they signed it was 200. Sure doesn't seem like 200 to me????

Yes ALL beaches on St.Maarten/St.Martin are public, but in many cases the big problem is access i.e. roads, parking etc and in the case of Club O, finding space to use your own chairs. Many beach bars/restaurants have concessions/licenses to put out and rent chairs, but don't know the official number for Club O.

And room behind the row to set up one's own chairs - right next to the Perch. Location, location, location...
